In the days of the early church, thousands of people were spontaneously baptized immediately after surrendering their lives to Christ. The baptisms then, as well as now, represent an outward expression of an inward commitment. The full immersion and rising from the water illustrates the incredible death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He died and rose again, and in the same way, we die to ourselves to become a new creation in Him.
