Hey everyone, I want to take a moment and thank you for praying for Michelle. She has "Atypical legionella bacterial pneumonia". (what a mouthful!) She is recovering and has been really sick. She isn't now but was contagious. I thank God so much for those who have prayed her through. Please continue to pray. Our whole family is in a bit of unrest, but completely trusting God for His outcome....Read More

We have been here in Nicaragua only a couple of days, and I am overwhelmed by what God is doing. We were not expecting the sense of anticipation we are feeling from everyone here. Pastors are hungry to learn, people on the streets are ready to give their lives to Christ, and churches are ready to be dangerous. ...Read More

Nicaragua is the largest country in the Central American isthmus, bordered by Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south. Nicaragua achieved its independence from Spain in 1821. Since its independence, Nicaragua has undergone periods of political unrest, military intervention by the United States, dictatorship, and fiscal crisis. Prior to the revolution in the 1960's and 1970's, Nicaragua was one of Central America's wealthiest and most developed countries, but is now one of the poorest. The population of Nicaragua, approximately 6 million, is multiethnic. Roughly a quarter of the population lives in the capital city, Managua, making Managua the second largest city in Central America. The main language is Spanish, and Catholicism is the main religion....Read More

One of the things about the Christmas season that is central for all of us is wrapping.
We love to wrap things. Did you know that half of the paper consumed each year is used to wrap gifts? And thirty-eight thousand miles of ribbon is used on those gifts?......Read More

I hope that you can pause to authentically thank God this year. Sharing what we are thankful for serves to keep things in perspective. A few years ago I lost my Pop right before Thanksgiving, and celebrating without him was only made easier by being intentional to recognize and express gratitude for all the things I still have in my life....Read More

I am writing today from Brisbane, Australia and travel back to Sydney on Saturday where I will be in the same churches, in the same city and in one of the same hotels as I was three years ago when life began to change. The last three years have been a season of loss. Business, friends, my grandpa, my son addicted to Heroin, and the list goes on. As I look back I can hardly believe all that has happened, and can honestly say today I am happy, and truly so excited. I am finding my joy again, and it is becoming my strength....Read More

As you look at the great commandment and the history (the first 30 years) of the church in Acts, it is simple to see four things that matter. It was very important that people experienced Christ. That is why our weekend matters so much. That is why 40% of everything we spend and do is about helping people experience Jesus. The first chair at our Living Hope table is "Experience Christ"....Read More

I don't know for sure right now, but I choose to trust God as we wait for this building to become ours. God has got this. It seems Living Hope has been in a season of waiting for almost 2 years. My faith has never been more stretched, but at the same time, in waiting, I have found God stronger in my life than ever. Not because my prayer has been answered, but because my heart has been transformed along the way....Read More

One of the things that marks Living Hope Church the most, and how we spend almost half of every single service, is worshipping God. God is so in love with us and when we come together to worship we're lifting Him above the cares of the world and focusing on Him. But maybe you don't know worship is not just about singing. It's not just about opening a hymnal, or singing a song, or repeating verses or words on the screen, it is so much more than that....Read More

Growing up, most of us learned the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." I personally think it is one of the stupidest statements ever. Sticks and stones definitely hurt us physically; but words hurt us emotionally, spiritually and relationally, and leave deep, long-lasting scars....Read More
