Wrecked
1. The theme for this year is reconciliation. Take a moment to read 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 as a group and think of what you can do as individuals and as a group to be about the ministry of reconciliation.
2. How would you define reconciliation? Pastor John talked about this word, katallasso in the Greek. What is the Biblical definition of reconciliation? How else is this word used (1 Corinthians 7:11, Romans 5:10, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20)?
3. Take a few moments to read Genesis 3:1-13. Why did Adam and Eve hide? How did their single act of disobedience wreck things for them? When have you felt “naked” and exposed like they did and felt like there was a chasm that separated you from God?
4. Religion asks: Do I look good enough? Am I good enough? Am I right enough? Am I safe enough. In what ways have you been stuck in a rut of religion in these areas?
5. Take a look at 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. What are these verses talking about? Pastor John contrasted religion with God’s love this weekend. How much does He love you (John 3:16, Jeremiah 31:3, 1 John 3:1)?
6. What is keeping God out of your life, what has robbed you of freedom? Of the four things mentioned this weekend (image, performance, being right or comfort), what walls have you constructed? What behaviors might you need to change to be more about reconciliation?
7. What walls of religion are you going to tear down so you can focus not on religion, but on a relationship with God, who put breath in your body and created you for a purpose (Jeremiah 29:11)? Will you let the grace of God wreck you and receive His love so you can turn around and give it freely to others around you?
8. How have you been wrecked by the grace of God; what does that mean to you and how has it transformed you?
